Her debut track Here was released in the year 2015. It was an instant hit that both critics and fans praised the song. In the Canadian Hot 100, and Billboard Hot 100, ranked the single at 19. Even Rolling Stone named the song one of the Top Songs in 2015. In that same year she debuted her album Know It All with the third single Scars to Your Beautiful being one of five original tracks that peaked at Billboard charts. This includes those of the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100. The song was particularly memorable since based on her interview with the Rap-Up show, many fans were inspired by her story through self-doubt and discovering how to accept herself. Cara's music is known to contain messages of love as well as self-love and mental wellbeing. The inspiration for her music is derived from her own struggle to conquer mental health issues and insomnia. When she spoke to Reuters the singer described her album as "half turbulent" and "half perfect". She found growth through therapy and encourages other people to seek assistance if needed. Alessia Cara has been a Canadian musician since 1996. Her parents are of Italian descent. Her parents purchased her a brand new guitar that she was able to use to further develop her passion for the music. She began to cover her favorite songs when she was 13, to prove to everyone that she had the skills and the courage necessary to be an artist. One of the songs Sweater Weather got noticed by a record label named EP Entertainment which allowed her to compose and record tracks.
