Alessia Cara

At the age of 19, she released her debut single, Here. It was a huge success and was praised by critics and listeners alike. It was ranked in the top 19 on both Billboard Hot 100 in Canada as well as the Canadian Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named the song one of the Top Songs of the year. The same year, she dropped her debut album Know It All with the third track Scars to Your Beautiful being one of five original tracks which reached the top of Billboard charts, including those of the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100. It was different due to the fact that many listeners were able to relate to her interview in collaboration with Rap-Up regarding her struggles to learn to love and be herself. Cara has earned a name for including messages on mental health, kindness and self-love into her music. The music that she has written stems from her personal struggles to overcome mental health problems as well as insomnia. According to a Reuters Interview, her album was described as semi-tumultuous and half-perfected. She claims she has grown through therapy and she encourages anyone else to seek out help when they need it. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto, Canada. She was born on July 11, 1996, to parents with Italian heritage. Her parents gave her a brand-new guitar, which she used to develop her passion for the music. In 2013, she covered her favorite songs for YouTube, a popular social media site. This was to demonstrate that she had the talent and confidence to be an artist. A cover of one of her songs, Sweater Weather, was the first thing that made her stand out. EP Entertainment gave her the opportunity to create and write her own songs.
